GoLocial — Building Stronger Local Connections. Helping small businesses grow locally and thrive digitally. Nidhi Garg, Founder & CEO.
Our Story

Everything local. One place.

GoLocial started with a simple frustration: local opportunities were scattered across too many places — chat groups, socials, classifieds and word of mouth. People knew what they needed, but not where to find it.

Great businesses were missing out on visibility. Genuine rentals were hard to discover. Local events, deals and services struggled to stand out. We built GoLocial to bring everything into one trusted, modern space — so the right people find each other easily.

We're suburb-first, Australian-built, and free to browse. Whether you're hunting for a room in Point Cook, a tutor in Tarneit, a weekend market in Werribee or a tradie you can trust — it starts here.

The journey

How GoLocial actually started.

Slide 1 of 5 — 'Does anyone know a good plumber?' The question every Melbourne group chat has seen. You sent it. You waited 3 days for one reply.
Slide 2 of 5 — Local discovery is broken. Facebook groups take 3 days for one reply. WhatsApp chats get buried under 300 messages. Google search returns ads from 40km away. Asking a friend — they're guessing too.
Slide 3 of 5 — Hi, I'm Nidhi Garg. Founder of GoLocial, Melbourne. For 6 years I was the unofficial answer to 'does anyone know a good...' in my community. Last year I chose to build instead of taking the next corporate job.
Slide 4 of 5 — Good work deserves to be found. Not the loudest. Not the best-funded. The ones doing the actual work — the home baker without a website, the tradie without an ad budget, the solo mum running a business between school runs.
Slide 5 of 5 — Try it. Tell me what's missing. I'm not building this for you. I'm building it with you. Free. No app to download. Melbourne first.
That's the short version. Here's what came after

Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Nidhi.

For 6 years, my WhatsApp groups had a quiet pattern. Someone would ask “does anyone know a good plumber?” — I'd reply, and a few hours later they'd say “thank you, you're a lifesaver.” Multiply that by hundreds of messages, across years, and you get a problem I didn't see coming. People were relying on me. I was missing replies, losing threads, forgetting names. The thing that started as helpful had quietly become unsustainable.

So I tried to engineer a way out. First idea: a chatbot. Then I got laid off from a corporate job — and an app I'd been building for that team disappeared overnight. Two things clicked at once: if I don't own what I build, I don't get to keep it, and the chatbot was thinking too small. The fix wasn't automating my replies — it was building the place those questions should've been asked in the first place.

So I started GoLocial. Solo — design, code, testing, strategy. Day job by day, this by night. No salary from this. Just belief. If you've got feedback, an idea, or you just want to say hi — please do. This is your platform too.
